Do AI voice agents integrate with Opera, Mews, and Cloudbeds?
A practical look at what “integrates with your PMS” really means for hotels — reading availability versus writing a confirmed booking back with a verifiable record id.
It’s the first question operators ask, and rightly so: if a voice agent can’t talk to your property-management system, it’s just a fancy voicemail. The honest answer has two halves, and the difference between them decides whether a call ends in a real reservation.
“Integrates with” is not the same as “writes to”
Reading and writing are different capabilities. An agent that integrates with your PMS can see availability and rates. An agent that writes to your PMS creates the reservation inside it and hands back a record id you can look up at the desk. Only the second one closes the loop.
- Integrates with: reads live availability, room types, and rates
- Writes to: creates the booking and returns a verifiable record id
- The record id is what makes the reservation auditable, not just claimed
Where the major systems fit
Systems like Opera, Mews, and Cloudbeds are the rails most hotels already run on. A voice agent should meet them where they are — pulling availability so quotes are accurate, then writing the confirmed booking back so front-desk staff see the same reservation the guest just made by phone.
The test to apply to any vendor is simple: after a test call, can someone at the desk find that booking in the PMS by its id, without anyone re-keying it? If yes, the integration is real. If it’s only in an email or a dashboard, it isn’t.
Payment, records, and consent
A confirmed booking usually means money changed hands. A well-built agent never takes a card number by voice; it sends a secure payment link instead, then writes the paid reservation back with its id. It also discloses that it’s AI and records with the right consent, so the record is clean end to end.
Ask vendors to prove the write-back, not just the read. A confirmed reservation your PMS can produce by record id is the only integration that pays for itself.
